Welcome Back,

We are excited to begin our Galactic Journey at Mountain View Middle School! We will be focusing on 8 character traits that are fundamental to student success: optimism, collaboration, resilience, perseverance, passion, curiosity, responsibility, and integrity. These district missions align beautifully with our REACH Reward system that will continue this year.

We are blessed to have several new teachers and staff at MVMS this year and look forward to working together. We will implement a new district initiative, the Fundamental Five, to improve and refine our instructional practices. This means administrators will be inside the classrooms more than ever before, supporting teachers! Although we have an "open door" policy for parents/guardians, please be advised that due to improving our instructional practices, we may not be able to visit with you immediately. If this is the case, please leave your name with the front office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Research shows that student success is greatest when parents and/or guardians are involved. Please continue to access ParentVUE online to monitor student progress and attendance. Please visit with the Guidance Secretary if you have not obtained your ParentVUE access code. If you were previously given an access code for ParentVUE, you may continue to use the same access code this year.

Student success is why we are here. We will again be offering an after school tutoring program to help and support every student at Mountain View. We are designated as a Title I school which allows us to receive funds to help pay for after school tutors and professional development for teachers to better help and support our students. If your student is struggling in any area, please contact your student's teacher(s). Timely communication is key to ensuring your child's success. We have excellent counselors available when needed. If you have any questions pertaining to any of our academics and/or extra-curricular activities, please don't hesitate to contact us.

There are several ways you can be an integral part of what we do here at Mountain View. We have a Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC), a DoDEA group, and opportunities to volunteer. Of course, we have our sporting events and awards assemblies that you are encouraged to attend. We are pleased that some of these events will take place in our gym which has a newly re-surfaced floor. This will be a great source of pride for our students, staff, and community. You are welcome and encouraged to visit Mountain View anytime. Log onto our website to see dates and times of our upcoming meetings and special events.

Again, we are so excited to be back and are looking forward to working with you and your student on our Journey to REACH Beyond Our Limits to Leave a Legacy! Thank you for entrusting your child's education to us!
