Welcome Back,

We are excited to begin another year here at Mountain View Middle School. We continue to offer many excellent programs and extra-curricular activities to our Mountain View students.

We are blessed to have new teachers and staff here at MVMS this year and look forward to working together. We have a new assistant principal this year and her name is Alicia Edgin. She comes to us with lots of passion, enthusiasm, and experience and she is an excellent addition to our school family. The staff here works diligently to make sure that every student receives the best education possible. We all work together to improve and refine our instructional practices and our dealings with students. Your students and our staff value your support and encouragement as we work to teach students to be accountable as they strive for excellence in their academics and co- and extra-curricular activities.

Research has shown that student success is greatest when parents and/or guardians are involved. That is why APS gives parents the ability to monitor student progress and attendance through the use of Synergy ParentVue online. Please visit with the Guidance Secretary if you are interested in ParentVue. If you were previously given an access code for ParentVue, you may continue to use the same access code this year. Grades will be updated by teachers by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Student success is why we are here. If your student is struggling in any area, please contact your student's teacher(s) about your concerns. Timely communication is key to assisting your child's success. Should the issue need the assistance of a counselor, we have excellent ones available in our office. If you have any questions pertaining to any of our academics and/or extra-curricular activities, please don't hesitate to contact us. This year we will be offering after school tutoring to help and support every student at Mountain View. This year we are designated as a Title I school which allowed us to receive funds to help pay for after school tutors and professional development for teachers to better help and support our students.

We will be continuing our Parent Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC) this year here at Mountain View. You are welcome and encouraged to attend our monthly meeting to stay informed and offer input regarding school activities and events. Your input is valued and your presence is encouraged. Become an active member!

The school's administrative team has an "open door" policy for all parents/guardians if we are available. However, please be advised that due to improving our instructional practices here at Mountain View, there will be times that administration will be in classrooms and will not be able to visit with you immediately. If this happens to be the case, please leave your name and we will get back to you as soon as we are able.

Again, we are so excited to be back and are looking forward to working with you and your student here at Mountain View. Thank you for entrusting your child's education to us!
